Very early and rare Parramore Island, VA
Curlew. This shore bird, maker unknown, was made well before
the turn of the century, probably around 1880. Although very
simple in its flat construction, it is wonderfully aged and
alligatored original paint gives it a strong presence. The
hardwood bill, which I believe to be oak, is either original
or a very early replacement. A worthy addition to any Virginia
or shorebird collection!
